WSOP 2008 Main Event, Day 5: Vos Eliminated on Last Hand of the Day

There were 189 players at the beginning of day 5 with Mark Vos and David Saab the only Australian’s to survive the first 10 minutes of play. Both Tony Clark and Hai Bo Chu were elminated very early on after racing their short stacks.

Mark Vos was up to as high as 6th position and has 2.6 million chips. He slipped backwards after that when he ran JJ into AA. On the very last hand of the night Vos still had 1.5 million in chips. Unfortunately for him he was involved in a pre-flop all in with AK vs AA. He couldn’t improve and finished in 80th place.

David Saab is now the long Australian poker player left in the Main Event. He was up to 2.2 million in chips at one point through some timey bluffs and value bets. He created a loose image for himself that worked in his favour most of the time. On one occasion however, he was loosely called by Q9 suited when he had JJ. They were all in pre-flop and his opponent turned a flush. After that hand Saab steadied and finished the day with 1,450,000 in chips.

The chip leader after the completion of Day 5 is Mark Ketteringham who has 5,700,000 in chips. There are 79 players left, which after tomorrow will be down to 27. Best of luck to David Saab who is the only Aussie player left representing us at the 2008 WSOP Main Event.
