WSOP 2008 Main Event, Day 2B: Aussies Struggle to Make an Impact

Day 2B at the 2008 WSOP Main Event has been completed, a day that saw Aussies wiped out across the casino floor. The biggest name in Australian poker, Joe Hachem was one of the Aussies amongst the numerous knock outs of the day. After working his way up to 62k he would not survive the day after getting involved in a 3-way all in. Hachem was on a flush draw while his opponents both had over pairs. One had QQ and the other had KK, Hachem couldn’t improve and his WSOP campaign had come to an end. The best of the lesser known Aussies are Tino Lechich and Tyron Krost who are on 193,700 and 171,600 respectively.

The field that started the day was almost double the size of the one on the previous day. 2379 competitors were all vying for their place in WSOP history. By the end of the day the field had been thinned out to 842 players. A total of 1308 players will line up at the start of action on day 3 when the field all plays on the same day for the first time.

The big name players that are still in action include; Mike ‘The Mouth’ Matusow, Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan and Full Tilt pro Nenad Medic. As we look towards Day 3, Mark Vos and Tony Hachem are still in with a great chance of doing well. We will be following their progress with a keen eye and will keep you well informed.
