WSOP 2008, Event #1 $10,000 PLHE

The first event of the 2008 WSOP has been an early highlight for the biggest poker series of the year. With all the hype in the lead up the the 2008 WSOP, we have finally seen some poker action. This first event didn’t disappoint with a host of big names at the final table. The final table consisted of names such as Andy Block who recently came 4th in the Full Tilt 25k Heads up Championship. The final table also included new Full Tilt pro Patrick Antonious, Mike Sexton and Kathy Liebert. The eventual winner was Nenad Medic who won $794 112 USD for winning the first event of the 2008 WSOP.

This tournament was played over a two day period, with Andy Bloch taking the lead into the final table. He took out 2nd place for a win of $448 048 on his birthday. Not a bad birthday present at all if you ask me. Mike Sexton had a good run and eventually finished in 3rd place. He finished one place above Kathy Liebert who finished in 4th place.

If this tournament is anything to go by, we have a lot more in store for us at this year’s WSOP. The big names played well and made some decent cashes. Pokershark.com.au will be following all the action to keep you informed. A special note will be made of the Australian performances.
