The EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo is currently being played. The first two days have come to an end, with the serious end of the tournament still left to be played. It looks like we could have an Australian player in the money as Joe Hachem is in a strong position at the end of the first two days of play.
At the beginning of day 1 in the Poker Stars EPT grand final there were 842 players, all after the 1st prize of over 2 million pounds. After day one there were 382 contestants left and the field was beginning to take shape.
The action on day two sorted then men out from the boys and Australia’s Joe Hachem came to life to take a commanding chip position. At the end of day 2 there were only 129 players left with the top 80 finishers cashing. Hachem, a team (Poker Stars) endorser, finished the day in fifth place. The top 4 chip stacks are all from Norway with Oyvind Riisem leading the charge at the front of the pack with a 441 400 chip stack. Aussie Joe Hachem has 255 300 chips.
Looking ahead to day 3, we will see the field reduced to the cash places and many of the players will then look to stake their claim for the tournament. Joe Hachem is in a position where he can get deeper in the tournament if all goes to plan. Hachem sent Chad Brown to the rail earlier in the day, his pocket kings were too strong for brown. Lets hope Hachem can stamp his authority on day 3 with more hands like this and be in a similar position after the days play. We wish you the best of luck Joe.
