Overview | 7.8/10 |
Titan Poker was launched in September of 2005 and has established itself as the number one poker room on the i-Poker network. The quality that makes this room stand out from the rest of the pack is the exceptional customer service. Titan pride themselves on their customer service and have won prestigious awards to reflect the quality of care they provide players with. The i-Poker network is one of only few poker sites that have thrived since the US gambling bill was passed in October 2006. The jackpot SNGs is my favourite part of Titan and you can win an incredible amount of money for winning a few SNGs.
From my perspective, Titan has two major drawbacks. The first, is the starting chips you receive in SNGs. I can’t stand starting with 1000 starting chips and is something that really annoys me. The second, is the timer that pops up when it is your turn to act. It seems as though every time action is on you, a clock pops up and starts ticking down. Between the clock ticking and having no time-bank you may struggle to make decisions in time if you are an inexperienced player. I find it to be a distraction but if things like this don’t bother you, you will be fine. If you don’t seem too concerned about these drawbacks then you will have an enjoyable time at Titan Poker.
Software | 7.5/10 |
The software that Titan provides is functional and easy to use. It doesn’t provide a great deal of features, but what is does provide serves its purpose. The term that comes to mind is exceptionally average. The interface is easy to navigate and the left navigation seems like searching through Windows. The tournament lobby displays everything that is needed and is easy to read. You can check your position in the tourney as well as all the essentials.
You cannot have avatars on Titan and this is an important feature that it lacks. Although a lot of websites don’t allow avatars, I feel that it is needed to identify and remember players. If you don’t have tracker software, then avatars can provide a way to identify players. Without avatars they are just a name on the screen and if they even changed seats or were in a different room it can be hard to remember them.
For the cash games, a nice quick search feature is there to use and find a cash game quickly. This along with the player search allows allows you to easily find a game and/or player you are looking for. The hand histories are displayed in text and graphics that is different to a lot of other rooms. I found it hard to adapt to at first, but once you get use to it you wont have any problems. I don’t think its as good as on other websites, but it’s a matter of making your own opinion on it.
Overall, the software is average, but on the better side of it without being great. It has everything you need and has a nice feel about it.
Promotions | 7/10 |
Titan runs a large amount of promotions and have some nice promtions from time to time. Although they can be nice sometimes, they aren't fantastic and nothing seems stand out against their competitors. The best promotion that they run and is always running is their jackpot SNGs. You can win huge cash prizes for winning between 4-6 SNGs in a row. For example if you win six $23.50 SNGs in a row you will get $25000 on top of the cash in each SNG. If you are into SNGs like myself, then this promotion will excite you. Take a look at the details at Titan Poker.
Current promotions that Titan are running include seats to the World Poker Showdown Ocean World at the Dominican Republic. May 9-18, 2008. Satellites start from $1 and details are on the Titan website.
Titan is also offering the Titan Winter Poker League with 60k in guaranteed prizes. It will run until the 22nd March 2008 and the 50k Winter Freeroll will take place on the 30th March 2008.
Titan has its own VIP club with bronze and diamond levels. These VIP levels can be acquired by earning Titan Points. VIP status allows you to play in tourneys for cash as well as well as entry to the WSOP. If you are a regular player, you can take full advantage of these promotions, as they are there as an added incentive for players to stay. I don’t think the reward scheme here is great, but it is certainly worth a look.
Check this page on a regular basis because it will be updated regularly with the latest promotions and satellites to major land-based events.
Tournaments | 8/10 |
The tournaments at Titan are focused on the 5-22 buy-in range. There are a lot of tournaments that are 1-2k Gtd in this buy in range. These tournaments run regularly in Australian prime time so you don’t have to worry about waiting for hours for a game after work. If you are a big tournament player than you will have to choose your tourneys selectively because there seems to be a lot of small buy-in, low Guarantee(Gtd) tourneys. If you are looking for a poker site to play at nightly and you enjoy these buy-ins and Gtd tourneys then you will love this place. I really enjoy the tournament schedule at Titan because even though there is a large amount of low buy-ins I know that I will always get a game at a time that is convenient for Australains. Have a look here for the schedule of tourneys available in Aussie Prime Time. The low buy-in tourneys as well as the jackpot SNGs are the major reason why I will always go back for a game. These features are what keeps Titan up with the competitors and kicking on strong. What Titan lacks in high profile tourneys, it makes up for in its coverage of the low stakes. That is why it is receiving a score of 8/10
Best Tourneys:
Traffic | 8/10 |
Recent trends have seen i-Poker now has the 3rd largest amount of players on the internet. It has overtaken Party Poker to be behind Poker Stars and Full Tilt in the standings. What this means is that you will always get plenty of action on the cash tables and there are plenty of tourneys running. Because Titan is on the i-Poker network, it shares players with other poker rooms. This allows them to accumulate more players and compete with the bigger poker rooms in the industry. At most limits that you play there will be multiple tables open to play on.
Titan does seem to have a lot of traffic based on the lower end of buy-ins in tourneys, but there are plenty of higher stakes games available for cash games. SNGs seem to fill reasonably fast so that is not a problem. The only issue I see with the traffic is the lack of higher stake tourney players. There doesn’t seem to be many big tourneys on Titan, but in recent times there has been a trend to slowly improving this. Overall, traffic wont be a problem and it will be other aspects of the room that will ultimately determine your experience at Titan.
Bonuses | 7/10 |
You can get a 100% first deposit bonus up to $500 at Titan by downloading the software from here and entering the bonus code shark500 as your bonus code when you are making a deposit. The first deposit bonus here is standard across the industry and is quite average. Pretty much it seems as though Titan has decided to offer the same as most and not offer an exceptional bonus. 100% up to $500 is still a decent bonus, but it doesn’t stand out from the competition. The bonus is merely there to not be a drawback, nor a selling point. But what it does provide is a solid, secure bonus that is competitive.
Fish | 7/10 |
The level of play on Titan would have to be normal. There is plenty of fish to be eaten by us sharks, but it is not an excessive amount. The competition in tourneys is slightly weaker than what it is in cash games that is also arguable. In terms of fish to sharks ratio, there is not a great deal of either in the playing field. Most seem to be average, break even players or slightly worse. There is a great opportunity here to take advantage of the average play. If you are better than a break-even player then you should be able to dominate the tables and push them around however you want. Make sure you take full advantage of them and eat up all of their money.
Customer Support | 9/10 |
Customer support is what Titan uses as one as its main attractions. It has 24 hour live support where all you have to do is click a button and you are moments away from speaking with a customer service agent. During peak times there can be high demand for their services, and there can be up to a 15 minute wait. I have found the support very helpful in regards to my player account, such as my bonus. If you have any other queries that require a management type decision, email is the way to go and they generally reply within a couple of hours. In 2007 Titan Poker won best support by users of gambling.com magazine. Titan prides themselves on these awards and they ought to be congratulated. In terms of comparison to the rest of the poker rooms, Titan is ahead on most and is it is good to know that they make a concerted effort to meet the needs of players. From the time when you get greeted by online support when you first log in, till when you need their help, you will be happy with their support and notice the difference from other poker rooms. The score of 9/10 is a fair indication of the standard of customer service at Titan.
