EPT Monte Carlo Day 3: Hachem Fights for Survival

Joe Hachem started day 3 of the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final in fifth place. By the end of the day he was fighting for survival and was one of the short stacks of the tournament. The big mover of the day though, was Antonio Esfandiari who is the chip leader at the end of day 3. He won the biggest hand of the tournament so far when his AA beat Mark Keightly’s KK. When they showed their cards before the flop, Antonio jumped up onto his chair and told the room exactly what was going on.

The excitement didn’t stop as Australia’s Joe Hachem was involved in controversy as security had to be called. It all started when Hachem didn’t show his mucked cards after the completion of a hand. One of the players who wasn’t in the hand, Woody Deck, made this an issue. Things started to get heated and security had to be called to stop the altercation.

At the end of the day Hachem doubled up with JJ vs the 77 of Jonathan Dwek. Dwek flopped a 7 to Hachem’s disgust, who turned away at the sight of it. He turned back around just in time to see a jack land on the turn and he eventually doubled up. He finished day 3 of the EPT Monte Carlo event in 24th place with 38 competitors left.

Day 4 will see Antonio Esfandiari start with the chip lead and look to play himself into an even stronger position. Fingers crossed Joe Hachem can emulate his WSOP Main Event performance and have another big win. He is still below the chip average so he will have to get off to a flying start. For all of the action from Day 4, check in tomorrow night.
